Messaging your tutor

Learners have access to CMIT eLearning messaging. This easy-to-use system allows you to submit queries to your tutor at any stage during your studies with CMIT. Please note that messages are continually monitored by the college. This resource is strictly aimed at contacting your tutor and should only be used in the context of your course. Abuse of this resource will not be tolerated and in a case where a learner has used the messaging system outside of CMIT’s guidelines, they may be removed from the programme.

Reading and reply to your messages

You can access, and read your messages, by clicking on the Messages icon on the top right-hand side of your course page. View and Reply to a message by clicking on the message.

Sending a new message to your tutor

To send a new message to your tutor:

  1. Click on the Messages icon on the top right-hand side of your course page. This will open the messages page.
  2. Click on the Contacts icon.
  3. Type in the name of your Tutor where it says ‘Search for a user or course’
  4. Click on your Tutor’s name when it appears.
  5. Enter your message in ‘Write a message…’ and then hit ‘Send’.

Your tutor will then be notified that you have submitted a message. While most queries can be responded to quickly, please consider that tutors may not have access to the system during weekends and bank holidays.

Adding your Tutor as a contact

We recommend that you add your Tutor as a contact.  Go to messages and click ‘Contacts’. Now click ‘Search for a user or contact’.  When you find your tutor, click on their name (in blue writing) on the top of the message panel and click “Add Contact”.
